It's easier than you think to be green!

Environmentalism is often seen as giving things up, but it's really about doing things better and thinking a little differently. The challenge ahead is to find a way in which we can all lead happy and healthy lives within the natural limits of our 1 planet. 

There are many things you can do every day to reduce your environmental impact and live a more sustainable lifestyle. From turning off appliances at home when not in use to switching to renewable energy at the office to choosing the most environmentally friend travel option on your next trip, even the simplest daily activities can make a real difference in protecting our environment.

A climate change message from Mt Everest 

Famed Nepalese mountaineer Apa Sherpa reached the summit of Mt Everest earlier this month, unfurling a WWF banner that read: Stop Climate Change - Let the Himalayas Live! 

WWF is calling on world leaders to take responsibility towards preserving the Himalayas as a global heritage site, and to reach a global climate deal at the UN climate change conference this December in Copenhagen.

Be a Green Explorer 

We all love to travel, but in today's world of global warming flying to far-flung destinations around the globe comes at a price, especially to the environment. 

To help give more information to the eco-conscious traveller, WWF has teamed up with Nokia to provide tips and advice on how to travel clean and live green. On Nokia's Green Explorer website you can share your ideas and experiences, get practical information about the destination of your choice, learn about WWF projects in the field and find green spots to visit.

A decade of wetland protection 

Ten years ago, WWF pledged to protect 100 million hectares of wetlands throughout the world. With the recent inclusion of a high-altitude wetland in the Andes on the Ramsar List of Wetlands of International Importance, that pledge has become a reality. Covering 1.2 million hectares, at elevations of between 3000-7000m above sea level, the Catamarca Lagunas wetlands in north-west Argentina is home to flamingos, chinchillas and many other species.

Extinction sucks 

Extinction Sucks is a new online wildlife series co-produced by WWF that follows the real life adventures of 2 Australians as they raise funds to help save endangered species around the world. The duo put on sports events, enter dance competitions, hold garage sales and do just about anything to support wildlife conservation projects in Nepal, New Zealand, Vietnam, India and beyond.
