A modéstia restringe a beleza?

Sempre que falamos que as mulheres devem se vestir de forma modesta e com pudor algumas moças respondem na hora: “Preciso ser feia?”, “Quer dizer que não posso me arrumar agora?”, “Não posso usar maquiagem?”. Há muitas dificuldades de interpretação de texto, algumas vezes são dúvidas reais, outras vezes é necessário apenas que abramos nosso coração e mente com honestidade para reconhecer nossos erros.

Modéstia não é sinônimo de roupas feias, descuido com o visual e desprezo a beleza. É verdade que muitas pessoas estão verdadeiramente enganadas a respeito disso, realmente acreditam que se apresentar de uma forma respeitável para não levar alguém ao pecado equivale a estar feia e não se arrumar, mas essa não é a modéstia Bíblica, e não é o que defendemos.

A modéstia não é feita para que a mulher se torne indesejável e por isso faça os homens não pecarem. Aliás, nesse sentido, tem como estar vestida de forma vulgar e ainda assim indesejável. A modéstia é para ser respeitável, honrar à Deus, glorifica-lo com suas roupas. Nesse sentido, a beleza, inclusive, deve ser buscada também.

Na maioria das vezes, essas associações vem de mulheres que não querem aceitar que certos hábitos ou formas de vestir são errados, elas sabem exatamente o que estão fazendo mas quando advertidas se sentem feridas e com problemas em admitir. Muitas ainda querem enganar a todos e a si mesmas a respeito de suas intenções, fazem ginásticas mentais e utilizam diversas formas de fazer rodeios e explicar de forma mirabolante porque não há "nada demais" em uma foto sensual e em usar decote. De fato, com alguns argumentos você pode convencer muita gente, mas a Deus não se engana, ele sabe exatamente a intenção do seu coração quando você veste uma roupa sensual e/ou se expõe de forma inadequada nas redes sociais. É isso que queremos chamar atenção, queremos convidá-las a refletir sobre as motivações do seu coração e sobre determinadas atitudes que analisadas a luz da Bíblia, são erradas. Queremos convidar você a fazer autoexame e analisar segundo as Escrituras. Não há como relativizar isso, não tenha medo de encarar seus próprios pecados.
